Although Local Associations are very important in looking after the interests of driving instructors in their area, they have little contact with other local groups. This makes it difficult to act as a unified body in times of need. ADINJC provides the means for these groups to meet to discuss matters of national interest.

We were one of the first organisations to be offered consultative status by what was then the Department of Transport. We led the field in providing training for driving instructors, and the competence of our Training Committee and Tutors (under the late John Milne MBE) was widely recognised. It was ADINJC who provided the initiative for the Approved Driving Instructor Training Establishments (ADITE), now superseded by the Official Register of Driving Instructor Training (ORDIT). ADINJC remain on the ORDIT Management Committee, and are always at the forefront of all actions to protect ADIs.

We aim to further the professional and financial interests of ADIs through their associations and our consultative status. We are a non-profit making organisation with no commercial interests and no salaried staff; simply working ADIs working for ADIs. All of the membership fees go towards promoting the interests of ADIs. We ensure that our members are aware of proposals that will affect their livelihoods by providing them with copies of all discussion documents. We canvas members' opinions and represent their concerns to the DSA, MPs, Ministers and EMPs.
