Members should be aware that the penalties for mobile phone use whilst driving will increase on 1 March.  The fixed penalty will then be a £200 fine and 6 penalty points for anyone convicted of this offence.

This will obviously have implications for new drivers, who will have their licence revoked for just one offence – but it will also have serious consequences for ADIs using a hand-held phone at the wheel or while supervising a learner, especially if they already have 3 points, with the potential for removal from the Register.
