DVSA: Some online services won’t be available: 27 November 2018
Some online services will be unavailable on Tuesday 27 November 2018 from midnight to 5pm to allow system maintenance to take place.
On GOV.UK you won’t be able to:
- book and manage driving and riding tests for your pupils
- use ADI services (such as renewing or updating your registration)
Please see below a message from Phil Coop.
I would be grateful if you could help colleagues who are looking at options around how the theory test could be delivered in the future by forwarding the following message and link to a survey to your membership.
To help inform DVSA’s considerations around how the theory test could be delivered more effectively in the future we would be grateful if you could share with your members this request for driving instructors to participate in a short survey. This will help us to best understand our customers needs and expectations as we develop any new theory test service. This survey has also been published via DVSA Direct so you may receive it twice, if so please only complete it once.

New hazard perception test clips |
Today (19 November 2018) we’ve announced changes to the hazard perception test for cars, to help improve road safety.
We’ve added 23 new CGI clips into the driving theory test to simulate adverse weather conditions including:
There will also be clips showing the type of low-level lighting experienced at dusk and dawn. The clips will be included in other types of theory tests soon. Find out more about the changes to the hazard perception test |
Learner driver research: text message trial |
DVSA is working with The Behaviour Insights Team to send text messages to car test candidates to:
Between now and March we’ll be trialling a variety of texts with safety messages. These will be sent to some learners in the lead up to their driving test or a month after. If your pupil receives a text message from DVSA, you should reassure them this is a legitimate message and they shouldn’t be concerned. Some of you might also receive these text messages if you book tests on your pupil’s behalf. If this happens you won’t need to reply. |
