DVSA – Update on trainer booking

Following the reopening of the online booking service in August, we wanted to update you on what’s happening with the trainer booking service.

Booking slot availability

From 5 October your test slot opening day will go back to what it normally was, and will no longer just be on a Monday or Wednesday.

The opening week will be 10 weeks out for test dates week commencing 14 December and will remain at 10 weeks going forward.

Rules for using the service

Please remember, you’re not allowed to:
• have multiple businesses registered for a single business
• transfer reservations between businesses
• use the vehicle of another business without displaying a confirmation
• reserve test slots beyond the tenth week by using candidate details, then cancelling and re-booking the slots using the TBF
• supplying the details of a candidate to DVSA who has not yet passed the relevant theory test

DVSA may not allow an instructor to use the online business service if any evidence of breaches in the trainer booking agreement are found.

Booking vocational and motorcycle tests

The majority of vocational and motorcycle tests are booked by trainers. However, a small number of these tests are booked by individuals.

To help reduce the number of people using the public online booking service we asked these people to book vocational or motorcycle tests through you.

The public online booking service is now back up and running so these people can now book their own vocational and motorcycle tests.

But vocational and motorcycle test availability via the public online booking service will be limited.

This is because the booking window will remain at 10 weeks and trainers will continue to be given priority access to the new test appointments. For more choice on availability, it may be better for these individuals to continue to book you.

The NJC continues to be dedicated to help you in these challenging times and we hope you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy.
