DVSA and NASP met on 16 September 2026 to review shared priorities for protecting and developing the driving instructor profession.

The meeting covered reform of the ADI qualification process, the future of ORDIT, trainee licences and improvements to the standards check system. The report also highlights pressures on booking and testing capacity, the need for more consistent PDI training, and calls for clearer communication and stronger relationships between DVSA and working instructors.

Proposed Part 2 test changes are due to be discussed at the wider car driver training and testing forum on 13 October, alongside findings from ORDIT customer research. These are proposals for discussion, rather than final decisions. The implementation date for the updated code of practice remains dependent on the digital declaration process being ready.
